the one facing the street, goes beyond the limit of the neighboring houses causing the formation of nice walkways.

The arches that form the walkways of the first floor, are six, the columns have Baroque decorations, like the five balconies and columns flanking the windows.

At the top of the central window a cross in high relief stands out, it is part of the top of the entire building, with high relief decorations too. The construction of the building was completed on April 4th, 1786, as seen on the inscription on a central pillar of the portal. The building was then the headquarters of the Subdelegate of the Spanish Crown in the town of Dolores.

It was called Casa de Visitas from 1940 when it became the property of the State Government to host distinguished visitors from the city and Guanajuato.

On the year that the armed movement that led to the beggining of independence, this was the house of the subdelegate Don Nicolas Fernandez del Rincón. In it the subdelegate and the tithe collector, Mr. Ignacio Diez Cortina were arrested by the military men Ignacio Allende and Juan Aldama.

Dolores Hidalgo was a strategic place, it was a midpoint between the city of Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende, both of great importance for the Colonial government, especially Guanajuato, because it was here where more than fifty percent of the silver exported

In this context it is understandable that it was necessary to have a place to house the important government personalities that had to travel to take care of the administration of the possessions of the New Spain.
