Este edificio fue construido a finales del siglo XVIII por el insigne filántropo Don Francisco Miguel González, para establecer la primera cárcel en la Congregación de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores.
La histórica madrugada del domingo 16 de Septiembre 1810, Don Miquel Hidalgo y Costilla y un grupo de valerosos insurgentes dieron libertad a los presos que aquí se encontraban para iniciar la lucha por nuestra Independencia.

National Independence Museum
This building was built at the end of the 18th century by the famous philanthropist Francisco Miguel González, in order to establish the first prison in the Congregation of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores.
On the historic early morning of Sunday, September 16, 1810, Miquel Hidalgo y Costilla and a group of courageous insurgents freed the prisoners who were here to start the struggle for our Independence.
