providing Guanajuato with important civil works. This illustrious engineer is recognized for his valuable participation in the construction of the La Esperanza dam and reservoir, inaugurated in 1894. Another work in which Ponciano Aguilar participated was the El Cuajín tunnel, one of the first made in the city of Guanajuato and with which he protected the city of Guanajuato from the dreaded floods.
