John Street
Named in honor of John Harpendingh, a tanner whose homestead was situated at the corner of Maiden Lane and Broadway.
He was a public-spirited citizen who owned considerable land in this vicinity – a portion of which he bequeathed to the Reformed Protestant Church in 1723.
