1. Highland Hospital Marker

Inscription. Built 1917 on site occupied by a defensive cannon battery during Civil War. Highland Hospital occupied these buildings until 1991. Hospital part is oldest remaining hospital structure in Shreveport.

Regarding Highland Hospital. The older part of the Highland Hospital, before its expansion some 30-years ago, was the part that served as a general hospital and is somewhat smaller than the newer facility. The newer facility is now operated by Brentwood a 200-bed psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment facility serving Louisiana, East Texas and South Arkansas for more than 33 years.
