Pops Park
Dedicated to Richard "Pops" Stroman
| | 1932-1995 | |
Pops was a lifelong motorcyclist and champion of motorcycle education and rights. In 1981 he founded the Louisiana chapter of ABATE, American Bikers Active Toward Education, and was its state president for many years.
In his interest to serve the community, Pops created the ABATE Christmas Toy Run, an annual parade of motorcycles carrying toys (and joy) to students at a local school. From 1981 until Pops passed, this park served as the traditional gathering grounds for the hundreds of motorcycles riding in the parade.
