1. 2205 East Broad Street Marker

Inscription. This Italianate style house was constructed in 1892 and Stephen Gaylord, manager of Pioneer Beef and Provisions Company, was its first occupant. Prominent features of this home include an eloquent wooden porch, segmental arched windows, and bracketed cornice. Other notable owners have included Elisabeth S. Bocock and Mary Ross Scott Reed, both founding members of Historic Richmond Foundation and instrumental in the revitalization of Church Hill. This house is listed as a contributing structure to the St. John's Church Historic District on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places.
