1. Elizabeth Glenn Marker
Inscription. A true pioneer woman. Captured by Creek Indians about age 9 near her home in Tennessee. Survived 9 years in captivity and escaped just prior to having to marry an Indian who would be the new Chief. Alone, in three-week journey on horseback, she found her way back to her parents. Her knowledge of the Indian language and their ways made her a great asset when she later accompanied family members overland to California.
