1. John Tibbett Marker
Inscription. Mr. Tibbett moved to Southern California in 1853 and settled in El Monte. At the age of 16, he was adopted by the Southwest Indian tribes and became the white counselor of the tribes. Credited with building the first house in the area and with the founding of the first white school in El Monte. It was known as the Old Mission School.
