Ventnor City Police Department. Decades of Dedication. The Ventnor City Police department has been committed to maintaining the safety of its citizens and visitors to this seashore community for almost 100 years. In this time, the police department has come a long way from its ranks of a half dozen officers and three motorcycle policing units to today's more modern department and policing vehicles. Today's officers have the latest technology available: from computerized photo imaging systems and Lowjack theft recovery systems, to computerized automatic criminal systems to check for outstanding warrants. Each vehicle is also equipped with mobile data laptop computers which allow the officers in the field access to the Criminal Justice Enforcement System. It's this advanced technology and the commitment of the department's officers that has resulted in a response time of less than 2 minutes for service calls, a fact on which the Patrol Division prides itself. The department is also staffed with a community policing unit, a bike unit, DARE officers, and a rapid deployment rescue and recovery dive team which is in conjunction with the Ventnor City Fire Department.
