1. Chesapeake Bay Two Log Canoe Marker
Inscription.  Aaron Whittington, grandson of Milford V. Rollins, previous owner, donated this two log Poquoson canoe to the Poquoson Museum. Originally built in 1876 by Henry reeman of Poquoson, the "Kaynoo" is 22 feet long and weighs one ton. The boat was made from two enormous pine trees which were hollowed out and bolted together. Though it was originally intended to carry 25 bushels of oysters, the craft had such beautiful lines that it was only used for pleasure and racing. It was last sailed in 1995. The "Kaynoo" is an example of the great boat building skills of Poquoson craftsman.

Erected by Poquoson Museum.
