Susquehanna in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania — The American Northeast (Mid-Atlantic)
Susquehannock People
established their towns along branches of the
Susquehanna River that facilitated travel, trade,
fish and water. The Susquehannock's [sic] lived
in fortified cities composed of 60-80 foot-long
houses. The society was a confederacy made of up to
20 tribes. The Susquehannock's [sic] were typically
farmers and traders and remained independent
until the 1600s.
