Mildred nurtured her son in the arts at an early age with piano, violin puppet shows, and dance he went on to star in three major motion pictures:
East of EdenJames Dean died on September 30, 1955 at age 24 in a traffic accident on a California highway. He was laid to rest at Park Cemetery in Fairmount, Indiana, just 8 miles south of this location. Mildred dean is buried 30 yards west of this plaque.
