1. Stones River National Cemetery Marker

Inscription. Union dead from this battlefield and Middle Tennessee are buried here. Of the more than 6,100 Union burials, 2,562 are known but to God. Men and women who gave their lives in other wars or who have served in the Armed Forces are also buried here.

5. Upright Cannon

As at most Civil War era national cemeteries, a memorial composed of a heavy cannon and a plaque notes the cemetery's statistics. This cannon is a 24-pdr siege gun, Model 1819 produced in 1837 by Fort Pitt Foundry.

Shortly after the Civil War, the cemetery was established on June 23, 1865. The cemetery contains the remains of 6139 Civil War dead, 3817 of which are known and 2322 are unknown.
