Howard County Master Gardners Demonstration Garden
Welcome to our historic vegetable garden. The century-style of the garden takes you on a journey through the history of vegetable gardening in Howard County. It features rows of vegetables from various periods of time in local history.
In colonial gardens, broom corn, Christmas lima beans and deer tongue lettuce were commonly planted. Victorian gardens may have gardens have featured mammoth red rock cabbage, rat tail radishes or "mortgage lifter" tomatoes. In today's gardens you may find mesclun mix, broccoli raab or multi-colored beans.
All produce from this garden is donated to the Howard County Food Bank.
