6. Right Flank of the 73rd Ohio
Looking south down Taneytown Road toward the monument. On the left of this photo are the flank markers for the 73rd and 55th Ohio. The regiment maintained a line along the stone walls bordering the road, with a skirmish line forward toward the Emmitsburg Road. As evidenced by the casualty figures stated on the monument, the regiment maintained a brisk skirmish on July 2 and 3 in the open fields to the west of Emmitsburg Road.
