1. Northern KY’s 1st Hospital Marker

Inscription. Catholic converts Henrietta Cleveland and Sarah Peter, with Bishop George Carrell, founded St. Elizabeth Hospital on this site in Jan. 1861. The Sisters of the Poor of St. Francis converted a vacant grocery store to serve those in need, including Civil War soldiers, slaves, & orphans. St. E marked 150 years in 2011.

Erected 2011 by Kentucky Historical Society; and Kentucky Department of Highways. (Marker Number 2353.)
