Inscription.

On the west bank, banco oeste del San Antonio River about a legua, a league, from its source, above the point where the San Pedro Creek joins the river, is situated La Villa San Fernando and the Presidio de San Antonio de Bexar with no other division between them and the iglesia parroquial…. The town consists of 59 casas of stone and mud and 79 of wood. All poorly built without preconceived plan, so that the whole resembles more a poor pueblo rather than a villa capital of so pleasing a province… The streets are torturous and filled with mud all over.
