1. Laidler's Ferry Marker
Inscription. Near present bridge was Laidler's Landing, which George Lee deeded to John Laidler in 1760. On main route to Fredericksburg and Williamsburg, it was also called Ledler's and Laidlaw's in George Washington's diary. To the south is Cedar Point, where Washington's schooner ran aground in February, 1766. He wrote in his diary August 25, 1768: "Hauling Seine upon the bar off Cedar Point for sheepshead but catched none."
