Winfrey Cemetery. . The Lower Redoubt, the fortification built to protect the Civil War depot, now watches over Winfrey Cemetery and people who once lived and worked in Johnsonville.
Winfrey Cemetery was originally located on a hill overlooking the town of Johnsonville. The Tennessee Valley Authority moved the cemetery here in the early 1940s, just prior to flooding the town site to create Kentucky Lake.
The cemetery contains the remains of the Winfrey and Green families. Only three of the twenty eight graves are marked. The earliest death date,1871, is on the marker for Albert Alonzo Winfrey, pictured on the far right. . This historical marker was erected by Tennessee State Parks. It is in New Johnsonville in Humphreys County Tennessee
