Artillery, Lieut. Fletcher S. Armstrong: 11th Battery, Ohio Light Artillery (6 Guns)

On May 12, 1863, Brig. Gen. Marcellus Crocker’s Division followed Maj. Gen. John Logan’s Division on the Utica Road, with Col. John Sanborn's Brigade in the lead, followed by the brigades of Col. Samuel Holmes and Col. George Boomer. Choking clouds of dust kicked up by Logan’s men caused a sizable gap to open between the two divisions, as well as between Crocker’s separate brigades. Thus, Sanborn did not arrive until 1:30 p.m., and was deployed to the left of Dennis' Brigade of Logan’s Division with orders to advance toward Fourteenmile Creek. When Holmes' Brigade arrived, Crocker deployed it behind the three batteries of Logan’s Division, and placed the 11th Ohio Light Artillery into battery between Logan’s 8th Michigan and 1st Illinois Batteries. Boomer's Brigade did not arrive in time to participate in the battle.

Casualties: 2 killed, 2 wounded
