1. Confederate Commanders Marker
Inscription. Gregg's Brigade was called up from Port Hudson, Louisiana, and arrived in Jackson, Mississippi, on Saturday, May 9, 1863. On Sunday night Pemberton ordered the brigade to march to Raymond, where it arrived Monday afternoon, May 11. During the Battle of Raymond on May 12, Walker's 3d Tennessee and Granbury's 7th Texas saw the heaviest action and suffered the most casualties among Confederate units. Col. Randal MacGavock, commander of the 10th and 30t Tennessee Consolidated, was killed in action.
