"When we worked in the field, we held the giant panda cubs to take their measurements. It was very sweet.
As a team, we worked very closely. Living together in the forest, we were like members of one family. We took care of each other; we learned from each other."

While doing field research in the 1980s, Xiaojian used a scale like this to weigh baby pandas. She would put the cub on the plate and slide the iron weight along the block pole to take a measurement.
