At one time steamers made our town a daily port of call on their trips up and down the Sacramento River carrying goods to and from Rio Vista. To honor this history, existing elements of a once thriving industrial and commercial waterfront have been incorporated into the promenade. As you look around, you will see concrete foundations for two buildings which once existed here when the Rio Vista Waterfront housed canneries and warehouses among other businesses (see photo, right). Improvements included a fishing dock, restroom with attached fish cleaning station, benches, lawn and picnic areas, pedestrian lighting and paved promenade; all part of the Bridge to Beach Trail. A 900-foot extension of the promenade constructed in 2015 heading south toward Sacramento Street was dedicated during the annual Bass Festival. This addition expanded
