1. Basket Sleigh Marker

Inscription. Like most forms of winter transportation, basket sleighs were designed to glide easily across the snow and ice for a smooth and leisurely ride. Basket sleighs were made of durable wood or wicker to support riders and block against inclement weather. Generally, basket sleighs were made for two people to sit close atop the wooden seat. These sleighs were also made with larger frames to accommodate more passengers as needed.
