Inscription. The tremendous rescue operation was coordinated by SANCCOB (the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds). Staff and volunteers worked around the clock for weeks. They rescued and rehabilitated more than 19,000 oiled penguins and transported another 20,000, not yet oiled, to safer areas.
