Regarding Lt. Louella White. The only woman from Spalding County who died during wartime service, she was killed during fighting on Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands. She was engaged to her hometown sweetheart, PFC Wiley Gwin King, Jr., who also died while serving on Saipan.
