Inscription. You are standing at the Ouray Fault, the first step in the formation of Box Cañon Falls. Millions of years ago a deep crack in the earth caused the harder rocks to move upward, while the soft sedimentary rocks to the north moved downward. As you walk along the fault wall, touch these hard Precambrian rocks that formed nearly 2 billion years ago.
