Inscription. The concrete slabs in front of you were the floors of the shop buildings constructed in 1895. The shops housed the electric generating plant, shoe/ tailor shops and the laundry/bathhouse. The 33 foot x 100 foot adobe building had a corrugated iron roof. In 1899 an addition was added, which housed the new library and provided a separate area for the bathhouse. In 1905 another addition made space for a lathe room and the engine room. The library and bathhouse were two of the five structures used by the Yuma County School District for high school classes from 1910 until 1914.
