1. The Blockhouse Marker
Inscription. Built as the park caretaker’s residence about 1940. County Commissioner D. Graham Copeland managed Barron Collier's businesses and surveyed Collier County. He located the sites of several Seminole war forts, old trails, and Seminole villages. As county commissioner, he is believed to have developed this park and influenced the design of this building to look like a Third Seminole War blockhouse.
