1. The Mayo Memorial Marker
Inscription. Twenty-five years after the deaths of the Doctors William James and Charles Horace Mayo the citizens of Rochester fittingly observed the Mayo Centennial Year - 1964 - to commemorate the approximate 100th anniversary of the birth dates of the Doctors Mayo and the 50th year of the Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research. Mayo Memorial Park contains in the east end of the mall the statues of Drs. W. J. and C. H. Mayo, co-founders of the Mayo Clinic. James Earle Fraser was the sculptor. The William Worrall Mayo statue by sculptor Leonard Grunelle was dedicated in 1915 by a grateful community and later moved to the west end of the mall and re-dedicated in 1951. The flagpole erected to the south of the mall was the gift of Mr. J. H. Kahler in 1929. It was moved to become a part of Mayo Memorial Park in 1952.
"Here they lived and worked for humanity."

Erected 1964 by the following service clubs of Rochester: Exchange, Kiwanis, Kiwanis of West Rochester, Lions, Rotary and Sertoma.
