Inscription.
Visitors from around the world, including U. S. Presidents, drank and bathed in the sulphur waters because it was believed to have medicinal properties. The Native American name for this spring was Kan-a-swa-stak-e-ras meaning "the place where mud smells bad" First shown to U.S. surveyors by the St. Regis Mohawks in 1785, the Sulphur Spring Water was first sold in the early 1900's.
