Inscription. The Donaldson family lived and farmed here from the 1840's to the 1930's. During that time, this straight, wide path was a farm road they used for getting around. The Donaldsons were "market farmers", growing crops like wheat, oats, corn, potatoes, tomatoes, lettuce, cabbage, onions, rhubarb, various berries and cut flowers. They marketed these crops here in Arlington and across the river in Georgetown.
