Kanal de petroli per l'enllumenat públic / First Street Lighting with Oil
In 1842, gas lighting was inaugurated in Barcelona, from Barceloneta to the Plaça de Santa Maria del Mar, and later on to La Rambla. But as the pipeline became difficult, where it could not reach, the lighting was replaced with petroleum oil. Carrer Amargo was the first street in Barcelona to be lit with oil.
