Inscription. Dasheen is a tropical yam-like vegetable related to eddoe. It has many different names and is grown in more than 40 countries around the world. Scientists believe dasheen has been grown for over 5,000 years, even before rice or millet! Dasheen is toxic when raw but safe to eat when cooked.
