Inscription. First launched in 1982, Black Brant IX powered rockets have carried their fair share of experiments, including telescopes, scientific instruments, and technology tests. Black Brant IX's are launched all over the world and perform well in extreme environments, from 100 degrees Fahrenheit to a bone-chilling -40 degrees. These reliable two-stage rockets continue to be used in Wallops’ suborbital missions.

Black Brant IX rockets can carry payloads weighing more than 2,000 pounds.
