Grant's Tomb

Rising to an imposing 150 feet from a bluff overlooking the Hudson River, this monument to General Grant is the largest mausoleum in America. Constructed of over 8,000 tons of granite, the great tomb was built to honor the Civil War general who was credited with saving the union from dissolution and elected President in 1868 by a grateful nation.
Grant's Tomb is located near the intersection of Riverside Drive and West 122nd Street.
It can be reached by the Fifth Avenue or 125th Street buses as well as the Seventh Avenue subway to 116th or 125th Streets. Riverside Drive is also accessible from the Henry Hudson Parkway at several points.
