Welcome to America's first urban refuge, established in 1972 to preserve and restore Tinicum Marsh. Here you will discover wetlands and forests that provide vital habitat for wildlife and for people.

Discover the quiet beauty of the refuge as you walk or bike 10 miles of trails, or as you canoe or kayak more than 5 miles of water trails.

Habitats for Wildlife
The refuge protects Tinicum marsh, the largest remaining freshwater tidal marsh in Pennsylvania. The marsh is a vital feeding and resting place for birds along the Atlantic Flyway. The refuge also provides habitat for a wide range of other animals, from butterflies to foxes.
