Braggs Corps, Confederate Army of the Mississippi, leaving its base at Corinth, Miss., the previous afternoon, passed north along this road to join other units for the attack on Federal camps at Shiloh, Apr. 6. Breckinridges Reserve Corps of three brigades followed, having marched from Burnsville, Miss.

Braggs Confederate troops left their base here on April 3, 1862 for the advance on Grant's army in Shiloh. The crossing of the Mobile & Ohio and Memphis & Charleston Railroads made Corinth, Miss. an ideal location for the Confederate base.
