D'éminentes institutions consacrées au savoir et à la santé y ont été édifiées, fortes de leur mission historique, monumentales de par leur architecture. Au fil du temps, villas et résidences prestigieuses y ont été construites, et la ville de montréal y a créé en 1876 le parc du mont-royal, une réalisation du célèbre architecte de paysage Frederick Law Olmsted.
Partie intégrante de la physionomie de la métropole, étroitement lié à l'histoire de Montréal et du Québec, le Mont Royal constitue un patrimoine unique et inestimable. C'est pourquoi, sur la recommandation de la Ministre de la Culture et des Communications, le gouvernement du Québec a adopté, le 9 Mars 2005, le décret créant l'arrondissement historique et naturel du Mont-Royal.

Historical and Natural Borough of Mount Royal
A historical place for gathering, relaxation and reminder, oasis in the heart of the city, an essential visual reference, Mount Royal is the result of the combined action of nature and the societies that shaped it.
This high identity place, with strong emblematic value, has several archaeological sites, including sites visited by American Indians for millennia. Today, religious institutions and sacred spaces join here, in particular cemeteries which are witness to Québec's history with their numerous burial places of illustrated persons.
Eminent institutions devoted to knowledge and health have been built there, strong in their historical mission, monumental in their architecture. Over time, villas and prestigious residences have been built here, and the city of Montreal created Mount Royal Park here in 1876, a realization of the famous landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted.
An integral part of the physionomy of the metropolis, closely linked to the history of Montreal and Quebec, Mount Royal is a unique and priceless heritage. This is why, on the recommendation of the Minister of Culture and Communications, on March 9, 2005, the Quebec government adopted the decree creating the historical and natural borough of Mount-Royal.
