La Crosse Players
The city of La Crosse was named for the American Indian game which the French christened "La Crosse." On this site hard fought matches were played by the Winnebago peoples.
The welded, COR-TEN steel sculpture was designed and fabricated by sculptor, Elmer P. Petersen.
Architectural and engineering services for this Harborview Plaza Park were donated by HSR Associates, Inc. of La Crosse, Wisconsin as a community service, 1980.
Erected 1981 by Walda Stern, in the loving memory of her parents, Frank and Elizabeth Stern.
