1. Broadway Marker
This pleasant 4-lane avenue was laid out in 1923. An electric streetcar ran from Dupont down Copeland Avenue and then along Broadway to the river.
The median had a goldfish pond and dish were replaces frequently after the raccoons feasted on them at night. The pond was cleaned and revitalized in 2019 by Morgan Bock of Scout Troop #2001 as an Eagle Scout Project.
A Rhesus monkey cage was located south of Broadway in front of the Everglades Inn tennis courts. It held 8 to 12 monkeys at a time, placed there by Barron Collier to entertain the children.
Farther to the west in the median is the memorial to Cheri (1962-62), a parakeet buried there by Lucy McLeod, wife of Dan McLeod who was Mayor from 1923 to 1959. Near that is a geodetic survey marker.
