Inscription.
Born on Long Island, N.Y., chose British side during the war. Capt., Tarleston's Reg't of Light Dragoons. Col., Legion of Orange Ranger. Lived in Canada after Revolutionary War.

Unknown why he came to Philadelphia. Old Pine Church records note, Geo. Dawson wed Anna Maria Robertson on Christmas Day, 1794.

His widow applied & received a pension from the British government to support her family.
