Planted on November 27, 2001 in memory of Eunice R. Rabette.

The Ponce de Le๓n Live Oaks grow near the spot at Port Charlotte, Florida, where the explorer first came ashore in April 1513.

2 • Treaty Live Oak
Planted on January 19, 1996 by lxora Garden Club in memory of Mildred (Mimi) Green.

According to legend, many treaties with Native Americans were signed under the spreading limbs of the 200 year old Treaty Live Oak in Jacksonville, Florida.

3 • Williamsburg Red Maple
Planted by Circle 1, First Presbyterian Church in memory of Hilda Thompson April 27, 1993.

The Williamsburg Red Maple from the center of Virginia's political and cultural life from 1698 to 1779 heralds the same spirit today that our country's brave forefathers were driven by in 1776.

Planted February 21, 1995 by VFW Post 10108 in memory of all deceased members.

The 300 year old Jim Bowie Live Oak grows in Opelousas, Louisiana, at the boyhood home of one of the heroes of the Battle of the Alamo who was famous for the Bowie knife.

Helen Keller studied nature by climbing trees in the yard of her Tuscumbia, Alabama home. The Helen Keller Water Oak may have been one of those trees.

The Jesse Owens Water Oak grows in Danville, Alabama, at the boyhood home of the track and field star who became the first American to win three Olympic events.

Planted in memory of Alice Dunn April 20, 1999.

James Madison was a founding father and fourth President of the United States. The Madisons loved their home, Montpelier, in Virginia. The beautiful lawn and gardens are home to this towering red Maple tree.

11 • Mission del Nombre de Dios Laurel Oak
Planting donated by the Knights of Columbus.

Mission del Nombre de Dios was America's first mission. It traces its origins to the founding of St. Augustine, Florida, America's oldest city in 1565.

12 • President Hoover Sycamore
Planted on December 1, 1998 in loving memory of Ann Reardon by a friend.

The massive President Hoover Sycamore grows in the front yard of his grandfather's farm in Linwood, Maryland.

13 • Treaty Oak
Planted on July 16, 1999 in honor of Helen Constantine by family and friends.

Believed to be more than 500 years old, the Treaty Oak in Austin, Texas is the lone survivor of the "Council Oaks."

In the Enchanted Garden at the Edgar Allan Poe Museum in Richmond, Virginia grows the magnificent Edgar Allan Poe Live Oak. The gardens were inspired by Poe's poetry.

Planted on October 6, 2001 in honor of Juanita E. Moore by family and friends.

The Hermitage Redbud originates from the Nashville, Tennessee home of Andrew Jackson, the seventh president of the United States.
