Inscription. Near this stone lie the remains of 105 United States soldiers whose names so far as known are hereon inscribed, but whose graves cannot be identified.

They died for their country.

The Union Monument consists of a stone monument under a marble dome. It includes the names of all known Union soldiers who died in Fort Delaware.
