• Began operating in 1911, making it the first of the six dams on the Au Sable River
• The six dams on the Au Sable River can generate up to 41,000 Kw of electricity
• Listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1997
• Wildlife management at this facility is certified by the Wildlife Habitat Council
• This facility is the site of a highly successful Michigan native Trumpeter Swan re-establishment program
• At this facility is Lumberman's Monument Visitor Center, featuring a 14-foot bronze statue dedicated to the pioneer spirit and efforts of Michigan lumbermen
