1. Old Mail Stage Route Marker

Inscription. Completed by 1839, Lexington-Harrodsburg-Perryville Turnpike (KY 68) ran through center of Pleasant Hill. Road became part of interstate Zanesville (Ohio)-Florence (Ala.) mail stage route. Stages discontinued here by 1877. Turnpike brought the reclusive Shakers communication and trade, as well as Confederate and Federal invaders during the Civil War.
