Constructed in 1768, this building became the
prototype for American Quaker Meetings for nearly
a century. The symmetrical plan with its equal
men's and women's meeting rooms reflected the
equality of the sexes within the Society of Friends.
Erected 2003 by National Park Service, United States Department of the Interior.
