1. Old City Cemetery Marker
Inscription.  Established circa 1850, the cemetery contains architecture that chronicles the development of funerary practices in Brownsville. The influence of burial practices from Matamoros and New Orleans is reflected by the ornate Brick vaults from the 19th century. The obelisks, crosses, and statues from the late 19th and early 20th century show a shift towards American burial practices.
