1. 4H House Marker
In 1932, the Arkansas Council of Home Demonstration Clubs established the first Women's 4H House in America at the University of Arkansas. Nine students lived in the house during its first year, but it proved so popular that the council began raising money for a larger permanent building. A stone house was built on this corner in 1951 and was home each year to 40 women, who paid $35 per month in cash or commodities. In 1977, it was sold to a fraternity and later used as a residence by other groups before being torn down in 2003 to make way for the Garland Center.
